I. Objectives
A. At the completion of this lesson, students will label the parts of a ladybug
with no errors.
B. At the completion of this lesson, students will create a ladybug paper
plate puppet correctly 100% of the time.
II. Materials and Equipment
A. Computer lab with internet access, projector, and printer
B. Label the ladybug parts printout
C.
Directions for Paper Plate Ladybug Puppet
D. Supplies for Ladybug Puppet-two paper plates for each child, scissors,
stapler or tape, red and black paint, markers, crayons, glue, black construction
paper, pipe cleaners, hole punch, googlie eyes.
III. Procedures-this lesson should take
approximately one hour and integrates science, art, and language arts into
the lesson.
A. Introduce the topic of ladybugs to
the students. Show them pictures
of ladybugs. Explain and discuss ladybug
facts.
B. Introduce and discuss the anatomy
of the ladybug.
C. Distribute the ladybug
print-outs and have the students label the parts of the ladybug.
D. Explain to the students that they now are going to create their own ladybug
paper plate puppet. Distribute the supplies and materials and read the
directions to the students as they follow along.
IV. Assessment
A. Students will be assessed on the accuracy of the labeling of the ladybug.
B. Students will be assessed on the ability to follow directions in creating
the ladybug paper plate puppet.
