I. Objectives
A. Shown an illustration, students will identify the stages and events in
the ladybug lifecycle with no errors.
B. At the completion of this lesson, students will describe two ladybug habitats
with no errors.
C. When asked a question, students will name two bugs that a ladybug eats
correctly 100% of the time.
II. Materials and Equipment
A. Computer lab with internet access, projector, and printers.
B. Books with maps showing different types of biomes.
C. Paper and pencils
III. Procedures-this lesson should take
approximately one hour and integrates science, social studies, and language
arts into the lesson.
A. Introduce and explain the word lifecycle
to the students.
B. Introduce the ladybug
lifecycle to the students. Discuss the various stages with the students.
C. Print out the
ladybug lifecycle worksheet for the students to complete.
D. Print out the ladybug
lifecycle for students to label.
E. Introduce the word biomes
to the students and then show them the different areas that the ladybug lives
in.
F. Introduce the word diet to the students and then explain the different
bugs that the ladybug eats. Show them pictures of the different
aphids,and
mealybugs.
G. Students will then write a two paragraph essay that explains where the
ladybug lives and the food it eats.
IV. Assessment
A. Students will be assessed on the accuracy of the completing the ladybug
lifecycle worksheet.
B. Students will be assessed on the accuracy of their two paragraph essay
on where a ladybug lives and the foods that it eats.
