I. Objectives
A. At the completion of this lesson, students will explain why ladybugs are
beneficial to our environment.
B. At the completion of this lesson, students will create a ladybug advertisment
according to ladybug advertisement rubric, with no more than two errors.
II. Materials and Equipment
A. Computer lab with internet access, projector, and printers.
B. Supplies and material for Ladybug Advertisements-poster paper, crayons,
markers, pencils, scissors, construction paper,
C. Magazines with advertisements.
D. Ladybugs
for Sale worksheet
E. United Streaming Web site access
III. Procedures-this
lesson should take approximately one hour and integrates science, social studies,art,
and language arts into the lesson.
A. As a review and to introduce new information students should watch the powerpoint
presentation.
B. Have the students watch the United Streaming video Ladybugs and Praying Mantis: Ruthless Insect Assassins. At the conclusion of the two and a half minute video, highlight and discuss the important points.

D. Show the students magazine ads.
E. Discuss with the students how magazine ads get there message across.
F. Hand out
Ladybug worksheet and arts and crafts materials.
G. Partner the students together and have them create a catchy colorful advertisment
for ladybugs. They should use both words and illustrations.
IV. Assessment
A. Students will be assessed on their ladybug advertisement by the following
rubric.
